Creative Direct Marketing - the Ebay way.
Found this quite interesting. At the agency we are engaged in many ongoing online marketing programmes - but this video from Stanford University caught my attention - notably the fact that Ebay was the first client of Google adwords - take a look. Or scroll down for a bit of background to my consultancy role as Creative Director of Sambecketts.
Before forming Sambecketts I combined writing plays for the BBC with consultancy work in the private sector. I worked in London for nearly 20 years and was the project manager for the Virgin Trains start-up.

Working alongside two recognised lead-consultants, both enormously talented in their own disciplines – Jim Steer (latterly MD of the Strategic Rail Authority - and all round polymath) and Brian Barrett (former Strategic Director of Marketing for Forte worldwide) I learned a great deal from both of them. More than anything, I learned that you should always major in your own strength - and listen - listen well. Then follow up the listening with bravery. I also learned the importance of attending to detail (but that you shouldn't become bogged down in it too soon) and I learned the importance of politeness in business.
Both of them were patient and wise mentors. Both were original thinkers.
I now run my own agency – have done for 7 years now: www.sambecketts.com
We deliver marketing and advertising consultancy services. It’s a happy place to work because we have a culture of respect, good humour and pride in the reputation we are building for being easy to work with and effective marketing partners.
